In a world where leadership has been boiled down to a “Title”, we have come to discover that people are more interested in leadership for the glory and fame of the title and not the true reason for leading.  There is a slight difference between Management & Leadership.  Management is controlling.  Leadership is inspiring.  So, looking at that, management is all about controlling everything and making sure things go YOUR WAY.  That is not leadership.  Leadership is all about inspiring others.  In inspiring others, we leave it up to them to do as they choose with what they have been given.  In true leadership, leaders are aware it is not about them.  They are clear that they are the conduit to someone else being successful.  Our greatest reward for being a leader is not leading.  Rather it is creating and building other leaders.  When this becomes the focus, you can firmly stand on “It’s Not About You.”   Lao Tzu says it best “A leader is best when people know he barely exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say ‘we did it ourselves.’”
