Conflict.  When you read that word, what do you think of?  A problem?  An issue? A disagreement?  Does it carry a negative connotation?  If so, consider this, conflict is conflict.  It is neither negative or positive.  Conflict is always going to show up whether we like or not.  What makes the difference is how we deal with that conflict.  Each student discovers their Conflict Style through an assessment they are given.  There are five types of Conflict Styles.  Some are not ideal and some truly stand out.  One that we highly recommend is Collaborating.  In conflict, when collaboration is at play, it allows for all parties to be heard, understood, and valued.  At that time, a space is created for all parties to come to an agreement that meets the needs of all.  Collaborating is easy, however, getting to that point takes some work to get to.  However, it is worth the effort and the time for all to be valued for what they bring to the table.
